The SSFF's genre focus is Dance in Film, so there were some gorgeous examples of that in a block of shorts today.
The dance films are so different than seeing dance in live performance - the director controls what you see, directing you to look at bodies moving through space a certain way and weaving interesting storylines. Some of those stories - well, most - are really sexy.
I don't remember now because it's 2:57 am but the list of dance films is on www.ssff.org. Anyway, it was funny, because after the screening during that Q&A time, a very puritanical couple said to the filmmaker that they would have preferred the films not to be so sexual. Like the sensuality of two humans dancing together was too much for them. Or they thought it was unnecessary to the stories.
You read the descriptions of the movies, and what do you expect? A baroque waltz?
Oh, sweeties.
