Tough!

"Veritas: The Story of Jon Trenge" (Lehigh U. wrestling champ) brought out a tough crowd for one of the film's first screenings (it premiered at an NCAA championship event earlier). Emotionally restrained older Lehigh athletic supporters along with lots of younger enthusiasts and wrestlers.

The composition of the film (by locally grown directors) was really well done. While I felt little empathy for Jon and his journey, I did kind of admire it. But more than that it made me proud to have been raised in this area, known for toughness. As tough as anthracite, tough enough that "we" are totally stoked by boys with natural talent who wear revealing little unitards and intimately grasp, clutch and throw other boys around.

Tough customer behind me, an elder who cussed under his breath (or so he thought) at almost every question asked by the audience of the coach/wrestler/filmmaking team during the Q&A after the film.

While I consider the Q&As the most rewarding parts of these screenings, the elder obviously did not, muttering "Shit." and "F**kin broad asking the question...shit." Hey old man, no one's keeping you here.

Additionally, it was fun to see all the white beefy guys who came out for this.
