The SSFF told me tonight that they have screened three films about Darfur during the past couple of years. I have seen none of them. But I think I'll put this one on my list: "Facing Sudan." (www.facingsudan.com)
Director Bruce Janu brought this brutally honest documentary about the suffering in Sudan.
The audience was deeply effected by the film and engaged in a post-film Q&A with the filmmaker.
The local chapter of Amnesty International came and lauded the SouthSide Film Festival, telling them that AI's awareness of the films about Darfur came about because of the festival.
I'll just quote from the film description - "Over the last 20 years, millions have died in Sudan...currently a genocide is occurring in the western region of Darfur. Facing Sudan is the story of ordinary individuals, moved into action...Ordinary people can do extraordinary things, even in Sudan."
That's all I can say about this one, sweeties.
