No actually the film title is "The Devil Came on Horseback."
I really wanted to see this but decided to eat dinner instead of watching another film about genocide and Darfur.
But my friends saw it and gave me their opinions. Difficult, wrenching, horrid, depressing were the words used to describe it, along with "really good."
After a film like that, Amy and Lu just needed to hear that they could do something to help, and there was a rep from Amnesty International there who led a discussion and asked people to consider donating toward a specific cause - solar-stoves. These would help the women in Darfur so they would not have to go out to get materials to heat their wood stoves - because when they do that so many of the women are raped. On their way to the wood pile as they get ready to prepare food for the family. The girls wanted to do something specific like Amnesty suggested, but were then wary about giving money to the cause. How much of the donation would be used for the stoves, and does it really make a difference? The common questions asked by anyone who doesn't know what to do about giving to international causes, you know?
Anyone have an opinion on that? It helps to try to work toward a solution even a little.
